Thank you, Alamance County.

“Thank you to everyone who supported our campaign and believed in the vision of a better Alamance County and North Carolina. We came up just over 4,000 votes short, but together, we brought 20,000 voices to the ballot, united by a shared hope for positive change in our county and state. To all of you who voted, to the many first-time voters, and to those who took a chance on a first-time candidate in this county—I am deeply grateful for your trust and support.

While the result is disappointing, my resolve is stronger than ever. I look forward to running again in 2026 and will continue to work within our communities, having real conversations in every corner of Alamance County. Our mission doesn’t end here; we’ve built something powerful that will carry us forward.

To my family, who sacrificed so much, and to my team Will, Lolita, Tara, Grace, and George, the hundreds of volunteers, the organizations who endorsed my campaign and the Alamance County Democratic Party—thank you for your hard work, heart, and dedication. We built this campaign together, and I am endlessly proud of what we achieved. To everyone who believed in me and in this vision for our community, know that I am more committed than ever to our shared goals.

We will face great challenges ahead during the next four years nationally and the next couple here in the state, but we all have to come together because I owe it to my daughter, to the students I teach directly and indirectly to fight for a better tomorrow which includes fully funding public schools, raising the minimum wage above $7.25 and ensuring that women can have reproductive freedoms and bodily autonomy without interference from the government.

This is not an end but a new beginning. Together, we will keep pushing forward, standing up for our values, and working toward the better future we know is possible. Thank you all."

The Coach Barnes Platform

  • Education Equality

From the Haw River to Pleasant Hill, every child deserves a shot at a strong education, but politicians in Raleigh are starving our public schools of funding to serve their own interests. I will work every day at the General Assembly to protect our public institutions in order to guarantee opportunity for all.

  • Reproductive Equality

As a proud girl dad, I firmly believe that the government should remain out of the doctor's office when it comes to decisions regarding your own body. If elected, I will be a champion for abortion access, IVF, reproductive and maternal care.

  • Government Accountability

Regardless of your political affiliation, we can all agree that governments must remain accountable to the people. Too many elected officials are absentee politicians, and voters have become jaded through gerrymandering and partisanship across our state. If elected, I would work tirelessly to restore faith, transparency and trust, and my inbox will always be open.
